Season 2020 -2021
At a time when the doors of most performing arts institutions and theaters remain closed, Carole Alexis Company/Ballet des Amériques is determined to stalwartly soldier on, under the auspices of its staunch, tenacious leader, director, and choreographer, Carole Alexis. For, the visceral emotions and awe-inspiring athleticism of dance do not properly translate virtually. Like most performing arts institutions, Ballet des Amériques/Carole Alexis Company was thrown for a loop by the pandemic. Prior to its emergence, the company was basking in the glow of success from a sold-out international tour to Tropiques Atrium Scène Nationale in Fort-de-France, Martinique, and preparing for its NYC premiere at Symphony Space in Manhattan. Ultimately, Carole Alexis Company/Ballet des Amériques has stepped up in our present crisis: embarking on its newest mission: to execute an array of performances throughout the NY-metro area, and, ultimately, the nation and world. Through these widely-accessible displays, audience members—who may have never before seen a professional dance performance—will discover a new appreciation for dance and performing arts in general; buoying much-needed support for the performing arts; generating a new population of theater-goers, and aficionados. Limbs outstretched and zeal tangible, Carole Alexis Company/Ballet des Amériques’s dancers and Alexis’s poignant choreography relate to themes including peace, love, and diversity, and leave viewers feeling profoundly moved. Thus, with the cleaves/fractures that exist in our present society, performing works with uplifting, consciousness-awakening, and enlivening themes that can aid in establishing grant.
The Nutcracker at the Wainwright House Live !
Following two successful, sold-out shows at the picturesque Wainwright House
(260 Stuyvesant Avenue, Rye, NY),
Carole Alexis Company/Ballet des Amériques is delighted to announce another
collaboration with the historic mansion. The two nonprofits will unite to host twenty-five immersive,
LIVE The Nutcracker Drosselmeyer’s Workshop performances
on a variety of dates bookending the holidays—from December 17th to December 30th.
The Nutcracker is a beloved holiday tradition, with Tchaikovsky’s signature score defining the season.
We invite you to join this inestimable experience of this yuletide staple live, as this production
will be one of the very few live renditions occurring this year. The ballet story of the Nutcracker
created by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov is based on the livret of Alexander Dumas and takes
place in the end of the Victorian era. Thus, the arresting and sumptuous Wainwright House
will provide an ideal backdrop—generating a marvelously enchanting experience.
Such a setting and arrangement will enable viewers to glean an unprecedented look at
both the opulent mansion (attaining a tour) and the dancers.
In compliance with COVID-19 guidelines, seating will be limited,
so make sure to reserveyour ticket in advance.
